Current Volunteer Opportunities

At Stanly Community Christian Ministry (SCCM), our volunteers are the driving force behind everything we do. They dedicate their time and energy to serving our neighbors with compassion and dignity. Whether sorting and distributing food in our pantry, preparing meals at the Community Table, organizing clothing donations, assisting clients at the Assistance Center, or lending a hand in our warehouse, our volunteers ensure that no one in our community goes without essential support. Their kindness, commitment, and faith in action make a lasting impact on the lives of those in need.

Assistance Center Receptionist

The Volunteer Receptionist is the first point of contact for visitors and callers at SCCM. This role is essential in providing excellent customer service, supporting administrative functions, and ensuring the smooth operation of the front desk. The receptionist assists with visitor management, communication, and appointment scheduling, while maintaining security protocols and an organized environment.

Assistance Center Food Pantry Associate

Food Pantry Volunteers provide direct support to individuals and families seeking food assistance. Volunteers will work closely with clients, assisting them as they shop for groceries, weighing their selected items, and ensuring they receive an appropriate amount of food based on pantry guidelines. Additionally, volunteers will help with necessary paperwork, maintain records of distributed food, and ensure a smooth and respectful client experience. Other responsibilities include stocking shelves, organizing donations, and maintaining a clean and orderly pantry.

Clothing Closet Donation Sorter

The Clothing Closet provides affordable clothing and household items to the community while helping to raise funds for SCCM. Volunteers are essential in sorting, organizing, and displaying donations in the clothing warehouse and showroom. Volunteers will also ensure the store remains clean and welcoming for shoppers.

Assistance Center Scheduler

The Assistance Center Scheduler is a crucial volunteer role that involves managing the scheduling and coordination of appointments in a busy office environment. The scheduler will interact with clients and staff, ensuring that all appointments are handled efficiently and courteously. This role requires training on Charity Tracker software, Google Sheets, and general office procedures.

Assistance Center Warehouse Associate

Warehouse Volunteers play a critical role in supporting SCCM's food distribution efforts. Volunteers assist with greeting donors, receiving and sorting donated items, and distributing items to the food pantry. These roles involve physical tasks requiring lifting up to 80 lbs. (accommodations may be made). Warehouse Volunteers must also ensure the overall cleanliness and organization of the pantry and warehouse.
